Chapter Four

"Hmmmm, too big" I announced as we walked down an aisle full of Christmas trees.

"I didn't know that we were talking in code again..."

I rolled my eyes but couldn't stop myself from laughing. "Are we?" I carried on walking, "In that case, I was mistaken. I meant to say that it's wayyyy too small."

"Hey! There's no need to be like that. It's cold out here, you've got to take that into consideration."

We browsed another twenty or so trees before we found the one.

"This is perfect" he announced.

"I agree."

After paying and arranging delivery for the next day, we picked out some decorations. By the time we left the shop, it was dark.

"So are you going to help me decorate it tomorrow?"

"Yeah, if I'm not sleeping."

He laughed, "Stop making me jealous."

"Why are you jealous?"

"I don't want you to sleep without me."

"Aww, that would be quite sweet if I didn't know how your dirty mind works."

He winked, "Are you hungry? There's a place close by, it's only small but it's awesome."

"Sounds good, lead the way." He held his arm out for us to link. It felt nice and surprisingly intimate. "So tell me, how did you become Envy's very own Santa Claus?"

"Probably the same way you became Mrs Claus."

"Oh, so you wore red sparkly knickers too?"

He closed his eyes, "Are we really talking about what knickers you were wearing?"

"Yep, they even had 'Ho ho ho' written on the back. Please don't judge me, Hannah bought them."

He chuckled, "Photos or it didn't happen."

I frowned, "I don't take photos of my knickers."

"Why not? Guess I'll have to see the real deal instead."

"Nice try. Anyway, answer the question."

"I just did it for some spare cash, they pay pretty well. I sometimes help out behind the bar when they're short staffed."

"So how many women sat on your lap last night?"

"Just you." I raised my eyebrow. "What? I'm telling you the truth. I'm not some kind of lap whore, I won't let just anybody sit on it."

"Wow, you sure know how to make a girl feel special."

"You are hands down the most beautiful girl that I have ever seen in my entire life. How's that for making you feel special? And it's the truth."

I blushed, "So, Law, huh?"

"So, changing the subject, huh?"

"Yep. Do you enjoy it?"

"I do, it's tough but it'll be worth it in the end. So what about you, what are you studying?"

"Creative writing."

"That's awesome. Your huge smile tells me that you enjoy it."

"I love it, I feel so lucky to be able to study something that I actually enjoy."

He nodded, "Are you going to write me into a romance novel? Are you using me for inspiration?"

"Maybe."

"Will there be lots of sleeping included in this novel?"

I laughed, "I do enjoy a bit of smut."

"I knew it! Just don't write me into a love triangle, it wouldn't be fair on the other dude."

A couple of minutes later, we stopped in front of a hot dog stand.

I grinned, "Is this the place?"

"Yep, they have the best hot dogs in town.
